This laboratory was mainly established to provide the training for students to acquire skills in precision measurement technology and the integrated design of mechatronics system. The aviation industry is a combination of extremely advanced technology and precision manufacturing that produces vehicles complying with strict safety regulations. Due to the safety concerns, there is an intricate and rigorous quality assurance system to meet all the high standards in place.
The precision measurement equipments include: Coordinate Measuring Machine, 3-axis Visual Imagine/Laser Dimensional Measuring Machine, 3-axis Precision Measuring System, Interferometer.
The issue of vibration has always been a concern for researchers and engineers. The vibration analysis system in the Lab includes two Laser Distance Gauges (LDGs) and a multi-functional signal analyzer. Experiments performed in the Lab verify the vibration and damping concepts learning from classes. Students will be impressed by the physical meaning of the experimental approach.
